at the time of its spreading popularity,end 1980 and mainly early 1990 the label introduced a genuine innovation in music history.especially within the gothic and industrial scenes,the innovations would become legendary.
in the early nineties,the phrase COLD MEAT INDUSTRY for a while even denoted a musical genre,viz the avant garde genre of industrial and dark ambient.
sound source was a short - lived ( 1991 -1992 ) side - label of CMI.it was specialized in releasing limited tape editions of many CMI artists' debuts,such as archon satani,brighter death now,megaptera,deutsch nepal,raison d'être and others.
since the mid nineties,the so - called CMI genres became widespread also by other labels such as loki.
even as of 2009,the core of the labels activity appears to be presented by traditional CMI bands such as ordo rosarius equilibrio and in slaughter natives,whose members collaborate closely with CMI boss roger karmanik.
