RICHARD MARIN • CREATIVE PROCESS
As a creative, I'm constantly in observation mode. The study of sensitive strings must be done with sensitivity. By analysing trends and the visual languages they spawn, I build my pallette of shades and tones. Design is an artform that thrives with general culture - economic, sociologic, esthetic, cinematographic, musical, literary, geographic, political. It is the art of expressing oneself with a language learned by osmosis.
An unlikely pairing of contrasting images can generate hope the same way as a color.
The study of negative space (empty space) and the balance of what is hidden versus what is shown fosters harmony.
Paper is a precious ressource. Everything we print on it must be conceived with care and respect. In a landscape of advertising and culture one must wonder, is the work making the general view richer of poorer? It is imperative that the question be addressed with lucidity and humility.
